COSEY COMPLEX came crashing into consciousness one Thursday afternoon near Kings Lynn as Cosey Fanni Tutti and I talked about, amongst other things, how nomenclatures can numb, nurture, pay and percolate concepts into life. This wonky process of taxonomy got me thinking on the train back to London if Cosey could be methodology in and of itself.

Maybe the world's first Festival of Art Writing? This parley-based event took as its eponymous starting point issue three of The Happy Hypocrite, Volatile Dispersal: Speed and Reading, as usual themed by methodology, as usual not themed by content.

Living Clay was a series of bi-monthly reading events, co-hosted by myself and an invited publication, about art writing as a meeting place for deduction, disagreement and debate, part of my role as Writer-in-Residence at Whitechapel Gallery. Guest publications included: Cabinet (New York), The Happy Hypocrite (London), Fillip (Vancouver), MATERIAL (Los Angeles) and F.R. David (Amsterdam).
